Tutor experience: senior year of high school. I tutored two young students with reading. One was second grade, the other a kindergarden student. The reason I want to be a tutor is mainly because I love working with kids and think my knowledge and idea of teaching can really help struggling students. I know the frustration that can overwhelm someone when a subject does not come as easy as others. English, however, and writing does come easily for me and I am willing to put my time and dedication to help make this process and learning experience easier. Relevant classes I have taken that have helped prepare me have been Introduction to teaching, Sociology, and many English/writing classes that have helped me better my skills as well. I also ran an art room during the summer for kids of all ages: 3-14. From this, I know how to work with different ages and know how to relate and help them feel comfortable, especially when teaching them something new.
